Notwithstanding numerous Muscle Milk praising reviews, it would be honest to look at the other side of the coin. Muscle Milk is not that ideally created as some of its advertisements claim.
First of all, when it comes to its taste, there’s no room for discussion. It does taste great, similar to a typical milkshake. It offers perhaps one of the top flavors on the muscle building supplements market.
Secondly, however, Muscle Milk content is not high-quality enough. This means that the mixture is formed from ingredients that are cheap. The blend is not entirely low-quality. In fact, it does contain whey protein, but only to some extent. The majority of the blend is made of protein that has been watered down, which is unacceptable.
Another disappointing fact is that Muscle Milk is not rich in milk coming from grass-fed cows. Unfortunately, the milk in Muscle Milk is most commonly extracted from grain-fed cows. Yet, the cows are given great amounts of harmful and unnecessary antibiotics and rBGH. Grains are not a part of any cow’s natural diet, but farmers opt for grain feeding as it is inexpensive. Without their natural food, cows cannot absorb essential nutrients that they, later on, transfer to the milk they give. In a nutshell, milk from grain-fed cows is poor in its nutritional value, thus causing Muscle Milk to be as poor in nutritional value.
Now, regarding grass-fed cows, their milk comprises an ideal dose of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. People who have sufficient amount of these two nutrients in their daily diet have fewer chances of suffering from cancer, diabetes, allergies, obesity, mental disorders, autoimmune disorders and cardiovascular disease. On the other hand, grain-fed cows are up to 20 times richer in omega-3 to omega-6, which may bring about an overall deterioration of health.
When buying a protein supplement, search for labels that say ‘grass-fed’ cows or ‘undenatured’ product. These two will lead to the purchasing of a high-quality product that was produced in low or cold temperatures.
There are also other ingredients whose presence in Muscle Milk is hard to understand for numerous reasons. One of those is maltodextrin, an ingredient found in foods such as sodas, potato chips and candy. The inadequacy of this ingredient is more than obvious even to amateurs.
Also, Muscle Milk hides another unhealthy segment, this being sucralose. Also known as splenda, it belongs to a group of food and drink sweeteners and is a typical ingredient of products that are light or diet. Supplement brands hide the fact that this is only a substance formed from chemicals modified by an addition of chloride. Being chemically modified, sucralose resembles chlorinated pesticide – a substance you are definitely not to consume.
To make matters works, Muscle Milk producers advertise it as a natural product, which is ironic since this product is not made of 100% natural ingredients. Finally, Muscle Milk is not well-advised if you need a nutritionally high replacement for your meal, and it is even more ill-advised if you want to use it as a post-workout supplement for boosting your protein. When you finish with an intensive workout, your organism will be drained and yearn for nutrients to recover muscle structure. Therefore, it will absorb anything you take in, just like a sponge absorbs water. It is not a good idea, in that case, to feed your body with Muscle Milk as it will fill you with some of its unhealthy content. You don’t need a protein that is processed to such a great extent, causing a great majority of nutrients to be smothered.
